The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation reviewed the case of a police officer convicted of negligence for ignoring a child's report about her father's aggressive behavior. This was reported by the press service of the Russian legal and judicial information agency.
According to the investigation, a minor girl called the police to report that her father was beating her mother and was holding a knife. The officer who took the call failed to relay the information to his colleagues and arrived at the scene only 1.5 hours later. Upon arriving at the incident location, the law enforcement officer did not enter the apartment. The child's mother was found inside the apartment without signs of life.
“The courts of two instances concluded that the police officer should have taken all necessary measures to save the citizen, including immediately relaying the received information to the duty unit, as stipulated by paragraph 2 of part 2 of article 27 of the Federal Law ‘On Police’, as well as by the service instruction (orders of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia No. 736 dated August 29, 2014, and No. 205 dated March 29, 2019),” the statement said.
The agency emphasized that the officer's criminal actions allowed for the possibility of concealing evidence of the crime.
Previously, it was reported that in Rostov-on-Don, the deputy head of the Economic Security and Anti-Corruption Department of the Don Interior Ministry, Sergey Glazyrin, was detained on suspicion of corruption.
Earlier, a Russian woman did not want to go to the police and attacked the officer with a knife.
