The Governor of Samara Region, Vyacheslav Fedorishchev, made a new statement regarding corruption in refereeing within Russian football. He shared this during the program "Ochnaya Stavka."
“I know for sure that 'Zenit' is not involved in such activities [bribing referees]. They have transparent and fair football rules,” Fedorishchev stated.
On November 26, Fedorishchev relayed the words of an unnamed official from the Samara club "Krylya Sovetov." According to the official, the club has a debt of 36 million rubles to “criminals who are involved in corruption within the refereeing body of Russian football.”
Later reports indicated that Fedorishchev was informed about the existing practice of bribing referees in domestic football by Pavel Kamantsev, the chairman of the refereeing committee of the Russian Football Union (RFU). Kamantsev himself stated that the RFU has a zero tolerance policy towards corruption.
